How to correct jet energy using the BPRES
... no standard prescription exists. But the method can be
similar to the electron energy correction. Since the dead
material affects low energy charged hadrons in much the same
way as low energy electrons (see ZEUS Note 95-133), one can
make a similar correction using subroutines from
bprestool.fpp
(try to understand it and change appropriately).
Here
is a plot which illustrates the response
of the BPRES to the electrons (upper plot) and pions (lower plot).
It was done using cone islands matched to CTD tracks
(Ptot.gt.0.3) and BPRES (in pC) tiles at the same time.
The signal in the BPRES increases with increase of the energy
losses of pions. At the highest BPRES signal (about 50-60 pC),
the energy loss for pions can be about 20%.
