With the start of HERA run II, ZEUS faces a large increase in the demand of computing power for Monte Carlo
production. The main reasons are the higher luminosities and the new micro vertex detector, that extends
the detector simulation and reconstruction times. As the conventional approach to produce Monte Carlo
for ZEUS, Funnel, cannot meet the demands,
the plan is to produce a substantial number of Monte Carlo events for ZEUS on the grid. This approach
profits from the increasing number of LHC Computing Grid (LCG)
sites emerging all over the world. The following picture shows the number of Monte Carlo events simulated
during the last week at the different grid sites that suport the ZEUS virtual organisation (VO).
Administrators of sites that want to participate in the ZEUS Monte Carlo production have to add
support of the ZEUS VO and should contact
ZEUS grid team.
