             Measurement of the Deeply Virtual Compton Scattering 
                             cross section at HERA

                                    Abstract


         The cross section for deeply virtual Compton scattering
         in the reaction ep -> e gamma p has been measured with the
         ZEUS detector at HERA using an integrated luminosity of 
         37 pb^{-1}. Differential cross sections in the kinematic 
         region 5 < Q^2 < 80 GeV^2 and 40 < W < 140 GeV are presented 
         as a function of Q^2 and W. The measurements are compared to 
         a leading-order perturbative QCD calculation of the deeply 
         virtual Compton scattering process.
