        Search for lepton-flavor violation in ep collisions at HERA

                                    Abstract


      A search has been made for events due to the reaction ep -> lX, where 
      l denotes a muon or tau lepton with large transverse momentum, with 
      the ZEUS detector at HERA. No evidence for lepton-flavor violation 
      was found. For leptoquark masses below the centre-of-mass energy, 
      limits were set on the couplings of resonantly produced leptoquarks. 
      Limits were also set on leptoquarks with masses above the center-of-mass
      energy in the context of a contact interaction.
