Abstract submitted to the XXXth International Conference on High Energy Physics July 27 - August 2, 2000, Osaka, Japan _________________________________________________________________________ Diffractive open charm production in deep inelastic scattering at HERA ZEUS Collaboration Abstract Open charm production in diffractive DIS has been measured with the ZEUS detector at HERA using an integrated luminosity of 44 pb^-1. Diffractive interactions are identified by the presence of a large rapidity gap in the final state. Charm production is identified by the reconstruction of D*+- (2010) mesons in the decay channels D*+ ->(D0 -> K- pi+) pi+_s (+c.c.) and D*+ -> (D0 -> K- pi+ pi+ pi-) pi+_s (+c.c.). The fraction of DIS D*+- events produced diffractively is found to be sizeable. Differential cross sections in several kinematic variables are compared with the predictions of phenomenological models.
