ZEUS/F1 Opportunities
Searches and exotic physics
- Production of high transverse momentum isolated leptons
Heavy flavor physics
Diffraction
Technical Projects
High resolution Calorimeter
- Improvement of the DAQ system and development of monitoring tools
- Automatization of calibration procedures
- Simplication and integration of calorimeter subcomponent readout
Silicon microvertex detector
- Continue and improve the current alignment of the MVD. The precision should be improved by considering different cluster algorithms, magnetic field corrections and possibly effects of the alignment procedure proper.
- Develop and expand the current Offline DQM system.
- Develop and expand the current Online DQM system. The available simple selection of distributions should be complemented. Automatic checks of standard distributions should be developed..
- Improve efficiency and reliability of the MVD DAQ system.
Online and offline computing
- Develop and expand existing grid-based Monte Carlo production.
- Introduce grid-based techniques in data analysis.
- Explore of advanced methods for precision track and vertex reconstruction.
R&D for a future international linear collider
- Development of a test stand for monolithic active pixel sensors. (MAPS)
- Study properties of MAPS, e. g. radiation hardness, crosstalk, readout speed, power consumption with the aim of building a vertex detector for a future linear collider.
- Develop a beam telescope for the DESY teststand
- Investigate ways to construct large scale detectors using novel support materials and cooling schemes.
